Learn how to raise chickens in your own backyard
Would you like to know where the eggs you’re eating every morning came from? Have you thought about getting pet chickens for your backyard, but don’t know where to start? Come participate in the Backyard Chicken Basics Class! Seven-year backyard chicken owners Bob and Audrey teach the basics of keeping chickens in an urban setting April 8th from 1-3 p.m. They originally started out raising chicks for the Student Organic Farm at the University of Minnesota but went to owning their own chickens in their backyard. In this quick two hour course, you’ll learn about getting permits, common health issues, cold-climate care, coop and run requirements and much more. You’ll also receive hands-on time with live chickens.
