During a time of limited travel due to coronavirus, there are still plenty of local places to visit in Minnesota this summer.

Lake of the Isles
Lake of the Isles is connected to Lake Bde Maka Ska, another well known Lake in Minneapolis. The Isles provides the opportunity for visitors to lounge, bike, walk or have a picnic. Lake of the Isles also has spots around the lake that provide shaded areas from the sun. Lake of the Isles is closely surrounded by unique structures of houses. The lake is a great location to explore the waters with equipment such as canoes, paddle boards or kayaks. Rentals are available through Lake Bde Maka Ska.

Bde Maka Ska
Lake Bde Maka Ska has three beach areas: 32nd Street Beach, North Beach, and Thomas Beach. These locations provide sandy places to lounge around and swim. Through Wheel Fun Rentals, canoeing, kayak, bike, boat and paddle boarding are offered. Lake Bde Maka Ska has both a biking and walking path along with restroom facilities, picnic areas, a boat dock and a sand volleyball court. Lake Bde Maka also has both paid parking lots and free parking available.

Lake Harriet
Lake Harriet has two beachfronts, North Beach and Southeast Beach, both a walking and biking path and has a Bandshell that is used recreationally. A bandshell is a unique structure that allows orchestras, bands, etc.. to play outside.Trees and gardens surround the area and create shaded spots to lounge around the lake, making it a great place to bring a hammock and have picnics. A bathroom area is also provided. There are a few budget restaurants nearby including Chipotle Mexican Grill, Noodles and Company, Caribou Coffee and Smash Burger. For a high end treat, check out Urban Eatery, Taberna Street Tacos, Wakame Sushi & Asian Bistro or local restaurant Bread & Pickle at the Pavilion. For a dessert, there is a Ben & Jerry’s as well as a Yogurt Lab nearby.
