Spotify playlist: Summer state of mind

Spotify+playlist%3A+Summer+state+of+mind

Some sunny tunes for daydreaming about summer.

By Soraya Keiser

My weather app says it feels like -22 degrees outside right now, but at least I can pretend that it’s hot enough to complain about the humidity. Enter the perfect Spotify playlist for the occasion: Summer state of mind. It has all the essential feel-good, breezy tracks that will put even a Minnesotan in February in a balmy mood. So whether I feel like road-tripping across the country, eating melty Bomb Pops or tanning poolside, this playlist helps me daydream my economics homework away:

  1. “Take It Easy” by Surfaces

Summer is a time to unwind and well, take it easy. Your goal is to embody this song. 3… 2… 1… GO!

  1. “Light As Anything” by Cory Wong

The vibes in the song are immaculate. I mean, do you hear that electric guitar?

  1. “Pineapple Skies” by Miguel

Miguel has one of the most beautiful voices that I have ever heard. This song makes me so happy for no good reason.

  1. “Walking On A Dream” by Empire of the Sun

Few songs top this one as a part of the quintessential teen summer playlist.

  1. “Getaway” by Saint Motel

A lot of Saint Motel’s music reminds me of summer adventures, so I was tempted to add at least five of their songs to this playlist. Alas, they didn’t all fit.

  1. “Watermelon Sugar” by Harry Styles

I know this song is overplayed, but it’s Just. So. Catchy.

  1. “Day Tripper” by The Beatles

Daytripping to the lake is hands down one of the best summer activities to ever exist.

  1. “Runaway Kids” by HARBOUR

This song makes me want to jump off a dock with all my friends right as the sun hits the horizon and the sky becomes all orange and pink.

  1. “Blame It on Me” by George Ezra

Picture this: Shades on. Windows down. Zooming up Scenic Highway 61. Not a cloud in the sky. What a perfect day.

  1.  “Chicken Fried” by Zac Brown Band

I will admit that I’m not the biggest country fan, but this song really does have great summer vibes.
