Admitted student overnight events
Every Bethel student and faculty member knows there are two classes of people above them: the alumni and the prospective students. For this reason, it is requested that all students and faculty that use the West and East parking lots park in the back in order to make room for the admitted student overnight event. These admitted students will be staying overnight in freshman housing, sleeping in current freshmen’s rooms Feb. 20-21, Mar. 7-8 and Mar. 27-28. I’ve read through the U.S. constitution one and a half times in my life, and I’m pretty sure this is Bethel’s version of the third amendment.
Maria Esch performance tomorrow
Head over to Benson Great Hall tomorrow at 11:15 a.m. to hear Maria Esch, a student of Marshall Urban, in a junior recital. With the accompaniment of Emily Urban, Esch will sing Duparc’s “Chanson triste,” Bizet’s “Ouvre ton coeur,” Faure’s “Apres un reve,” a set of lieder by Mahler and four songs from Copland’s song cycle, “Twelve Poems of Emily Dickinson.” I’m very smart and definitely can pronounce all of the words I just typed. Admission is free!
The Writing Center opens today!
The Writing Center in HC324 opens today. You can schedule an appointment at tutorlabs.bethel.edu. Don’t get too good at writing, though. Then the Clarion will fire me, and I’ll be forced to live in a van down by the river.
Join the Ministry Scholars Program
The Ministry Scholars Program is for those interested in ministry as a career who want to attend Bethel Seminary for undergrad. Basically, it allows you to get a head start on your Master’s in Ministry, so it’ll only be one extra year of school after completing undergrad. I’m not exactly sure what the course material looks like, but I assume the youth pastor uniform will be provided. This includes carrying a guitar, wearing a beanie or round brim hat and mandatory man buns for the guys. To get involved, email Program Director Bryce Johnson.
