September 16: Women’s volleyball vs Cornell College

There has been a decade of silence between Bethel University’s volleyball team and Cornell College. The two teams have only played each other twice in history and will face off for the first time in 10 years. Bethel took both meetings, including its 3-2 win in the last matchup in 2012.

September 19: Men’s soccer vs Minnesota Morris

Bethel University men’s soccer team will open up its season against the University of Northwestern-St. Paul at home. After the opener, the Royals will be on the road for its next five matchups, which includes games in Superior, Wisconsin and Cedar Rapids, Iowa before finishing the road trip in Mount Vernon, Iowa.

Bethel is back at home Sep. 19 to face the University of Minnesota Morris, who they’ve beat in the past three meetings, including a 3-0 shutout win last season.

September 24: Football vs St. Johns University

Bethel University’s football team will host a Saturday afternoon game against St. John’s University. The Royals have lost eight straight games against the Red Storm but gave St. Johns a run for its money last season.

Bethel managed to almost end its losing skid against the Red Storm Back in November. The Royals had a 28-15 lead heading into the final quarter before St. John’s stormed its way back with two touchdowns en route to a 29-28 victory. GSCE art

October 8: Football vs Hamline University

Bethel has won 25 straight football games against Hamline University, including a 49-7 win last October. The winning streak Bethel hopes to extend to Oct. 8, on homecoming weekend, dates all the way back to 1996.

October 15: Men’s hockey vs USNTDP-U18

Bethel University’s men’s hockey team will play an exhibition game against the USA Hockey National Team Development Program U18 squad. The USNTDP-U18 team features the best players in the nation in its age group, and there’s several Minnesota-born players on the team.

November 12: Women’s hockey vs St. Olaf College

Bethel University’s women’s hockey team beat St. Olaf College 3-1 back in February of last season on the strength of a trio of third period goals. Bethel plays against the Oles before playing a home game against them.

The Royals will head into the two-game series on a five game winning streak. Bethel has had strong success against St. Olaf in the past 10 meetings, outscoring them 37-17 with a record of 7-2-1.

November 12: Men’s basketball vs University of Northwestern St. Paul

Bethel University’s men’s basketball team is scheduled to play the University of Northwestern-St. Paul for the first time in nearly seven years. Back in December 2015, the Royals narrowly beat the eagles 64-62 in what was a closely contested game that came down to the final seconds.

The contest was Bethel’s fourth straight win against UNW, who hasn’t beaten the Royals since Nov. 21, 1998. Expect it to be an action-packed game with Bethel’s 24 year win streak on the line and just three miles separating the schools.

November 16: Women’s basketball vs Carleton College

Bethel University’s women’s basketball team convincingly beat Carleton College 71-59 last season. The contest marked 17 consecutive wins for the Royals with a win streak that started back in January 2013.

The Royals are looking to extend the win streak to 18 against the Knights while Carleton looks to end Bethel’s winning streak again after snapping its prior eight game winning streak.
