Monday Morning Coffee: Overflow Espresso Cafe

Monday Morning Coffee: Overflow Espresso Cafe

Because everyone needs at least one cup of coffee on a Monday!

By Lexi Friesen

Coffee Shop: Overflow Espresso Cafe

Prices: Pumpkin Spice Latte (because Christmas doesn’t start until after Thanksgiving) costs $4.36

Atmosphere: The atmosphere is comfortable and unique. There is a couch and chairs next to a fireplace, but the rest of the place is filled with tables and chairs. There is a stone fountain in the center of the first floor, and a balcony second floor with tables and chairs as well. This is the perfect combination for socializing and getting work done, but not too much work.

Seating: There is plenty of seating and since it was later in the evening, my friend and I were able to sit in the only comfy chairs next to the fireplace.

Music: Beautiful jazz music! Not my number one choice, but it fit the Friday night mood.

Store Hours: Saturday and Sunday — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Monday through Friday — 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Location: 2929 University Ave. SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414 — it is 21 minutes away from Bethel. The quickest route is to go on 35W South then go on to 280, but you can also head south on Snelling and take a right on University Avenue, but then you are forced to hit streetlights.

Parking: There is a big, free parking lot on the north side of Overflow. I have had other friends tell me the reason they choose to always go to Overflow is because of the good parking situation.

Overall experience: I am sad to announce that Overflow will be closing for good on November 21 due to the fact that block of stores was bought out by investors. Having said that, I would HIGHLY recommend stopping by before they close. It was definitely worth my time to drive there and I am hoping to stop in again before they close. In regards to their drinks, the Pumpkin Spice Latte has a strong flavor, but wasn’t overloaded with sugar, which I really liked.
