Bursting the Bubble: 11/06/2023

For when you don’t want to ruminate on the fate of the Vikings season or need something to help you procrastinate the homework for your least favorite class, here is your guide to off-campus events.

Something new: With Thanksgiving around the corner, it is time to start thinking about Christmas shopping. The MN Christmas Market provides fun pop-up opportunities to shop for unique gifts. The Market will be at Union Station in St. Paul from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 18 and at Quincy Hall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 25.

Something new: The Minneapolis Institute of Art is housing the collection of “In Our Hands: Native Photography, 1980 to Now” from now until Jan. 14, 2024. Tickets cost $20.

Something new: Complete with live music and artist showcases, Art Attack! will be in the  Northrup King Building in Northeast Minneapolis from 5-9 p.m. Nov. 10, 12-8 p.m. Nov. 11 and 12-5 Nov. 12.

Something new: Shop by Candlelight brings the ambiance to your midterm stress shopping spree. In the Shelby and Snelling Shopping District, you can visit stores lit only by candles from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.

Something free: There will be two author events in the Twin Cities during the next two weeks. “A Conversation with Junauda Petrus” is a free event with the Coretta Scott King, award-winning author of “The Stars and the Blackness Between Them.” Meanwhile, free with the $10 entry to the Minnesota History Museum, Trung Le Nguyen will be discussing his graphic novel “The Magic Fish” in an event called “States of Comics.”
