St. Anthony Falls has historically been of critical importance to the Twin Cities area both as a landmark, and as a great source of commercial activity. Father Hennepin was the first European to see the falls in the year 1680. However, it wasn’t until 200 years later that the city of Minneapolis began to thrive on saw and flour milling.
