I’ve had very little coming in and everything going out.” He confirmed his current living situation is unstable, mentioning, “I’m living in hotels, I’m living in Airbnbs… I literally have no home.“
Spacey also confirmed to Morgan that he is deeply in debt, admitting, “Yes, it’s considerable… Many millions.” His financial troubles have worsened since his dramatic career decline in late 2017 when multiple sexual assault allegations surfaced, leading to his dismissal from projects like House of Cards.
In November 2021, Spacey was ordered to pay $31 million in damages to Media Rights Capital (MRC) for breaching contractual obligations, a ruling upheld in August 2022. This figure has since ballooned to $34 million due to accrued interest and penalties.
As of February 2024, MRC forgave the debt with the stipulation that Spacey would testify on their behalf in a separate lawsuit against insurance companies connected to the show. Nonetheless, the past seven years have been challenging for Spacey, with his reputation and career largely in shambles.
His once-thriving career now seems like a distant memory, and as he openly admits, his financial situation is “not great.“
