Following the massive success of the first season of Wednesday on Netflix, fans are eagerly awaiting the return of the quirky Addams Family with season 2. Created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, Wednesday left viewers hooked with its unique blend of mystery, humor, and spooky charm. Now, we have all the details you need to know about the highly anticipated second season—storyline, cast, release dates, and even a first teaser. Warning: spoilers for season 1 ahead!

When Is Wednesday Season 2 Coming Out?
Wednesday season 2 was confirmed back in January 2023, with an initial release date set for 2024. However, the writer and actor strikes of 2023 led to delays, pushing the premiere into 2025. Now, Netflix has announced that the season will be split into two parts:
- Part 1 will be released on August 6, 2025
- Part 2 will follow on September 3, 2025
Fans have a little over a year to wait, but the new timeline has only built the excitement even higher.
What Will Season 2 of Wednesday Be About?
Season 1 of Wednesday was filled with dramatic highs—murder mysteries, monster hunts, school dances, and quirky, vibrant outfits that made Mercredi’s fashion statement truly one-of-a-kind. But according to actress Jenna Ortega, this next chapter will take a darker turn, focusing more on the horror elements of the show. While it will still maintain the series’ signature wit and charm, the supernatural creatures, such as vampires, werewolves, and superpowers, will get a bit more frightening.
Ortega has confirmed that the show will lean more into its horror roots while maintaining a lighthearted, non-serious approach. “We’ve decided to go more into the scary side of the series. But it still remains pretty light; with vampires, werewolves, and superpowers, we don’t want to take it too seriously,” she told Variety.

One significant change this season will be Mercredi’s relationship with Tyler, whose return was confirmed by one of the showrunners, Alfred Gough. Tyler was revealed as the monstrous creature responsible for attacking students in season 1, and it looks like he will be a thorn in Mercredi’s side again in season 2. However, this time, their relationship will not be romantic. Ortega openly criticized the love triangle in the first season and stated, “We’re going to leave romance behind for Wednesday, and I think that’s a really good thing.”
This shift in tone was confirmed by Ortega in an interview with E! Online in January 2024: “The show is definitely leaning more towards horror, which is really exciting. Even though Wednesday needs a little narrative arc, she never really changes, and I think that’s a wonderful quality. The dialogue is really sharp, and the whole show feels bigger—there’s a lot more action. Each episode kind of feels like a movie, which is really fun.”

Season 2 will also introduce new characters, further expanding the world of Wednesday. One new character, Karloff, is described as an athletic teenager who will require prosthetics. Another new face is Uncle Wolfgang, who will be charming and confident. Finally, a young girl named Annie, who is said to be between 12 and 14 years old, will join the cast. Annie will be portrayed as wise beyond her years and quite intelligent for her age.

With all these exciting changes, fans can expect a season filled with action, deeper mysteries, and new faces that promise to keep them hooked. Whether you’re a fan of the supernatural or simply love a good mystery, Wednesday season 2 looks set to deliver plenty of thrills and chills.
