On July 31 at 3 PM, Nintendo unexpectedly unveiled a Nintendo Direct focused on third-party studios. What can fans expect in terms of game ports? Will we finally get news about Hollow Knight: Silksong?

Surprising Nintendo Direct Announcement

In a surprising move, Nintendo scheduled a new Nintendo Direct. The company revealed the conference at the last minute, leaving fans buzzing with anticipation. However, expectations should be tempered as there were no updates on major first-party games, meaning fans of iconic franchises like Mario or Metroid will have to wait longer for news regarding new titles or expansions.

This conference primarily focused on Nintendo’s partners—meaning third-party publishers developing games for the upcoming Switch 2. Many developers are eager to showcase their titles, thanks to the enhanced technical capabilities of the new console. For example, Microsoft and Xbox have signed a deal to port some of their games to the platform. Fans are right to expect updates on titles like Elden Ring, Hades II, Final Fantasy VII: Remake, and Persona 3 Reloaded. What about the long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong that has been in development for years? Although it will be playable at the upcoming Gamescom later this month, fans hoped for a release announcement that remains scheduled for this year. Here’s what was revealed.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection

The first title announced was Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. This new entry in Capcom’s beloved franchise showcases attractive graphics and is set to be released in 2026. While details are sparse, it involves a mysterious egg, a kingdom in turmoil, and a hero who will likely restore peace while riding a formidable creature.

Persona 3: Reloaded

Atlus, renowned for its Persona series and most recently Metaphor: ReFantazio, continues to be a major player in Japanese role-playing games. Nintendo announced that Persona 3: Reloaded will be available on Switch 2 on October 23. Originally launched in 2006, this version boasts enhanced graphics via Unreal Engine, a remixed soundtrack, and an updated interface.

The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Warriors – Chronicles of the Seal

While fans were hoping for a new installment of The Legend of Zelda, they were greeted with a new entry in the Hyrule Warriors franchise. This hack-and-slash game allows players to battle hordes of enemies as iconic characters. The Chronicles of the Seal introduces new gameplay footage showing Zelda fighting alongside Sonia, Rauru, and the Bearers of the Occult Stones. However, no specific release date was provided beyond the teaser that it will arrive “this winter.”

Star Wars: Outlaws

Nintendo also welcomed Ubisoft’s Star Wars: Outlaws, which debuted last summer on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. This action-adventure title is set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 4, 2025.

Cronos: The New Dawn

After Silent Hill 2, Bloober Team revealed its latest survival horror game, a sci-fi experience titled Cronos: The New Dawn. Players will assume the role of traveler ND-3576, who arrives in New Dawn to hunt down a mysterious entity responsible for widespread chaos. The game also involves time travel to seize the essence of the departed to enhance equipment. It is expected to launch on September 5 for Switch 2.

Yakuza Kimawi 2

Sega is set to remake Yakuza Kimawi 2, which was originally released in 2017 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The enhanced version features improved voice acting, reworked cinematics, and upgraded graphics powered by the Dragon Engine. It will hit shelves on November 13, 2025, for Nintendo Switch 2.
