As the NFL free agency period approaches, teams are already making strategic moves during the legal tampering window. Highlights include the swift signing of Tua Tagovailoa and the acquisition of center Tyler Linderbaum by the Las Vegas Raiders. Both moves signify a heightened commitment to strengthening their rosters ahead of the new season.
Tyler Linderbaum’s Historic Contract with the Raiders
While the official start of NFL free agency is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET on March 11, many teams are already active in the market. Notable among them is the Las Vegas Raiders, who have secured center Tyler Linderbaum with an impressive three-year contract valued at $81 million. This deal includes $60 million in guaranteed money, making it the most substantial contract ever awarded to an interior lineman in NFL history.
Drafted by the Baltimore Ravens as the 25th overall pick in 2022, Linderbaum made history as the first center selected in the first round by the Ravens. Since then, he has showcased his prowess on the field. With a pass block win rate of 96.2%, he holds the second-best performance in that category since joining the league. Furthermore, he ranks among the top ten run blockers during the same period.

What Lies Ahead for the Raiders
During his tenure in Baltimore, Linderbaum contributed to the offensive efforts behind quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry. Jackson, known for his elusiveness, has a unique ability to extend plays, while Henry has amassed an impressive 3,616 rushing yards and 32 touchdowns in two seasons, despite some recent fumble troubles.
Transitioning to the Raiders, Linderbaum will collaborate with a less seasoned offensive lineup. The team holds the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming draft and is anticipated to select Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza. Additionally, promising rookie Ashton Jeanty, who recorded 1,321 scrimmage yards and 10 touchdowns, looks to enhance his performance with Linderbaum anchoring the offensive line.
The Raiders have also made additional key signings, including wide receiver Jalen Nailor on a three-year deal and several defensive players, notably linebackers Quay Walker and Nakobe Dean, along with defensive end Kwity Paye. With the franchise determined to bounce back from last season’s disappointing record, Linderbaum stands out as a pivotal addition to their roster.
